REAP001 - Panel: What Can Intel® RealSense™ REALLY Do?
There has been a lot of talk over the last few years around gesture recognition and more natural user interfaces, but what happens when the rubber really hits the road?
Come hear from a panel of experts on Intel® RealSense™ Technology, both from inside and outside of Intel, about what can really be done today and what we will probably see right around the corner.
Intel introduced natural user interfaces to the PC market with Intel® Perceptual Computing. Now, in 2014, with a new name and brand, Intel® RealSense™ Technology and the Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera will be integrated into and available on Ultrabooks™, notebooks, 2 in 1s and All-in-One PCs. This will enable a tremendous opportunity for software developers to reach a mainstream audience with these ground-breaking new interfaces that use all a consumer’s common senses including voice, gesture, facial recognition and touch. Attend this session to see what this opportunity affords and hear about how you can take advantage of it.
Topics in this session include:
- An overview of Intel RealSense Technology
- Demonstrations of compelling user-interfaces which take advantage Intel RealSense Technology
- How to use the next-generation SDK and Dev Kit camera to enable bleeding edge new usages including full hand- and finger-tracking, speech-recognition, background subtraction, facial analysis and augmented reality to your applications
- Developer programs including the Intel® RealSense App Challenge 2014, Hackathons, Virtual AE sessions and webinars that help ensure your application development success
- Ojas Sawant - Software Engineer, Intel Corporation
- Ryan Tabrah - Product Manager, Intel Corporation
It’s a brave new world of coding with Intel® RealSense™ Technology 2014. We have never done anything like this before at IDF, so join this "one of a kind" session to hear from early adopters and innovators about their early work with the technology.
Key members of the Intel Software Innovator Program for Intel RealSense will discuss upcoming features they are putting into future applications. Each Innovator will explain their approach to using the new capabilities, discuss their methods for implementation and review what code changes or new bits of code they are implementing.
Intel® RealSense™ Technology is bringing revolutionary changes to how we interface and interact with computing devices and systems. We are adding human-like “senses” to computing devices so they are able to sense and understand the users and the surroundings more naturally. At Computex 2014 we introduced the Intel RealSense 3D Camera for tablets, and with it comes a range of exciting new usages including 3D scanning, interactive augmented and virtual reality, and enhanced photos and video experiences with depth-based filters. This Technology Insight will present an in-depth review of the key technologies, system integration, and application developments with real-time 3D sensing. We will include demonstrations of showcase applications across all form-factors which allow people to interact with their computing devices in ways which are more natural, intuitive and immersive than ever before.
Hundreds of millions of people communicate using video on their computing devices. The demand for smooth, clear HD quality on consumer broadband networks has never been higher. Now with depth camera technologies, like the Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera, people can control and customize the way they present themselves and their environment in a video call.
Topics in this session include:
- Quality optimizations through hardware encode, decode as well as pre – and post-processing on Intel® Architecture (IA)
- Recommendations for power and performance efficiencies
- Advanced new features such as region-of-interest, face detect, face recognition, and video stabilization
- Delivering immersive capabilities such as background segmentation and beautification
- Details and examples of how to improve the video call experiences with IA
- Stan Baran - Platform & Software Architect, Intel Corporation
