Custom Event-based Analysis Workflow

The following figure shows an overview of the custom event-based analysis workflow that is recommended in case you create a custom analysis type with user-defined metrics (event ratios) using the configuration files.

Prerequisites:

To use the configuration and script files provided by the VTune Amplifier for the event-based custom analysis, make sure you have Python 2.6 (or later) installed. Older versions may cause errors.

• Position (hover) the mouse pointer to display a brief explanation.

• Click to display the associated topic.

1. Edit a template architecture-specific file to add event metrics.

2. Use a Python script to generate a custom analysis.

3. Copy the generated analysis files to the configuration folder.

4. In the VTune Amplifier GUI, choose an executable file to analyze.

5. Choose and run a new custom event-based analysis.
