Configuring Frames Threshold

To achieve good performance for your graphical application using frames, you need to keep the frame rate constant (for example, from 30 to 60 frames per second). Intel® VTune™ Amplifier helps you analyze the frames rate in your application and provides a mechanism to differentiate Fast, Good, and Slow frames.

To define the criteria for Slow and Fast frames, set up the frames threshold as follows:

  1. Click the Project Properties button on the VTune Amplifier toolbar. The Project Properties: Target tab opens with the Application to Launch pane active.
  2. From the Advanced section, configure the following options:

    • Slow frames threshold, frames/s to specify a threshold separating Slow and Good frames. VTune Amplifier marks frames rates lower than this threshold as Slow. This threshold needs to be smaller than the Fast frames threshold.
    • Fast frames threshold, frames/s to specify a threshold separating Good and Fast frames. VTune Amplifier marks frames rates higher than this threshold as Fast. This threshold needs to be larger than the Slow frames threshold.
