Intel Software Day Brazil is being organized for five years now and grew to become our flagship event to connect with local developers and promote discussions on new technologies and business opportunities.
Usually the event takes place in São Paulo, which is the main Brazilian technology and business hub, but this year we decided to reach for different regions within Brazil leaving São Paulo and having the event in Salvador (Bahia). The event was co-hosted by SENAI CIMATEC, a campus focused on technology and manufacturing that is expanding their skills to the high performance computing area. The local SENAI support was key to extend our connections with local developers, companies, universities and gov.
After our major strike last year combining Intel Software Day with two other events, this year we have gone back to our roots focusing 100% of our efforts on developers. We prepared a 2 days event with 5 keynotes, 5 tracks, 25 tech lectures, a HPC Workshop, a Demo Area, an Academic Program Meetup and some ISV’s Roundtables, a lot of things to keep the 1146 attendees connected with all our initiatives.
Technical Tracks and Hands On
During the event 25 tech lectures were presented distributed in 5 tracks on RealSense/Windows, IoT, Android, HPC and Startups. If you want to check out all the content that was presented please access this post.
Demo Areas and Event Space
11 Demos were presented during the event by Intel partners and SENAI. Most of them were created with Intel® RealSense™ technology, Intel® Galileo Board and Intel® Edison. Here are some examples of what we’ve presented:
- AnimaGames company demonstrated their Marble Mania APP, that uses hand and fingers tracking to simulate a marble game.
- Totvs company introduced a new type of interacting with their enterprise management software system where the user can interact through gestures, facial recognition and voice navigation commands without the need of using a keyboard or a mouse.
- NakedMonkey company presented the Fusion4D, which allows the user to interact with 3D objects as if they were really in their hands.
Other Initiatives and Actions
We also had some special activations, such as:
- IPCC Announcement (The Supercomputing Center at Senai is the third in Brazil to enter the IPCC Program. The partnership will contribute to the development of studies in complex oil and gas fields, including the exploration of our pre-salt layer).
- Support to a Local Youth Learning Program (Intel is investing in the trip of 2 students group working with Intel Galileo and Intel RealSense to Mostratec, one of our local Science and Technology Fairy associated with Intel ISEF).
- Encourage diversity within the technology industry as a whole with a lecture focused on “The Power of Women in Technology (The activity that had 46 attendees aligns with Intel’s initiatives such as Diversity in Technology and Intel Education Programs for Girls and Women).
In conclusion, once again Intel Software Day was a great event to connect with the local ecosystem and it was a very important move to make it outside São Paulo and have the chance to increase our footprint and make connections in different parts of Brazil.
